The World Cup is drawing near…
On 4 December, tension rose around the globe and 300 million eager eyes focused their attention on Cape Town… where the group draw for the 2010 World Cup was taking place. This is a milestone for the world’s second biggest sporting event which is being held in Africa for the very first time. There was a buzz of World Cup excitement in the streets where tens of thousands gathered and celebrated in front of big screens and watched the draw with fervent anticipation.
A festive ceremony, hosted by the South African actress Charlize Theron, was attended by Nelson Mandela, Franz Beckenbauer, David Beckham and Michael Platini among others.
The draw has now been finalised and the following teams will be competing against each other at the foot of Table Mountain:
